AN74 / PREPARE FOR TOMORROW
Check your bag before a short outing
A practical check of pockets, closures and useful information.
Pack for the actual outing
Write down your planned route, the forecast and expected return time. A short outing is different from an evacuation. Adapt what you carry to your needs and local guidance rather than filling every pocket out of habit.
Inspect the small details
Look at seams, straps and closures. Keep items you will need first in an accessible pocket. Try carrying the loaded bag before leaving. A “tactical” label is not evidence of durability.
Arrange a contact
Tell someone your route and expected return time. Agree in advance what to do if you are late. Promotional photographs cannot replace preparation or guidance from authorities at your destination.
