AN74 / PREPARE FOR TOMORROW
Build a food reserve you actually rotate
Use familiar foods and a simple storage routine to keep track of household supplies.
Start with familiar meals
Write down simple meals your household already enjoys. Identify ingredients that can be stored according to their packaging. Build your list around familiar habits rather than a bundle of unfamiliar products. Account for allergies and individual needs.
Make older stock easy to use
Group items by purpose. Put items to use first at the front and new purchases behind them. A record of product, quantity, date and location makes checks easier. Respect the different date labels on packaging and the stated storage instructions.
Include meals without cooking
Identify a few meals that need neither electricity nor cooking. Check how packaging opens and whether you need a manual can opener. Food supplies belong in a wider plan that also covers water and other essential needs.
Check a little, regularly
Pick a routine moment to review your inventory, such as before grocery shopping. Replace what you have used and look for damaged packaging. Do not rely on a seller’s shelf-life claim alone; consult the manufacturer’s instructions.
